Grenada

Grenada is a three-island nation at the southern tip of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean, comprising Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique. Known as the Spice Isle, it is the world's second-largest producer of nutmeg after Indonesia, and also produces mace, cinnamon, cloves, and cocoa.

About Grenada

Saint George's, the capital, is widely considered one of the most picturesque harbours in the Caribbean, with colourful buildings cascading down hillsides toward a horseshoe bay. Grenada gained independence from Britain in 1974, but its modern history was dramatically shaped by a Marxist revolution in 1979 and the subsequent US military intervention in 1983 β€” one of the defining episodes of Cold War confrontation in the Caribbean.

Grenada has rebuilt itself as a stable, tourism-oriented economy with a diversified base that includes agriculture, light manufacturing, and education. St. George's University is a major medical school that attracts thousands of international students, making education a significant export earner. The island's underwater sculpture park β€” an artificial reef of bronze figures β€” is one of the Caribbean's most unusual diving attractions.
